Children's Eye Test in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya
Children rarely complain about their eyesight, mostly because they assume everyone sees the way they do. A children's eye test catches problems they cannot describe themselves, from a wandering eye to a prescription that is already changing.

Children rarely complain about their eyesight. Most assume everyone sees the way they do, so a wandering eye, a lazy eye, or a prescription that is quietly getting stronger can go unnoticed for a long time.
A children’s eye test at Paris Optical is built around that reality. We take the time to make your child comfortable, explain things in language they understand, and check for the things a child would never think to mention.
What we are actually looking for
Beyond a simple vision check, we screen for early signs of lazy eye (amblyopia), assess how your child reads and focuses, and check colour vision. Many of these conditions are far easier to treat the earlier they are caught, which is why we recommend starting young rather than waiting for a problem to become obvious.
If your child’s prescription is already changing year on year, that is a different conversation. Our Myopia Management programme exists specifically to help slow that down, with a clear plan and regular measurement so you can see it working.
Our clinical process
We keep it relaxed and explain every step, so your child knows what to expect.
- 1
A relaxed start
We keep the first visit unhurried and explain everything in language your child understands, so it does not feel intimidating.
- 2
Vision and eye health check
We check your child's vision, screen for early signs of lazy eye, assess reading behaviour, and test colour vision.
- 3
What we found, in plain language
We explain the results to you clearly, including whether their prescription is stable or changing.
- 4
What happens next
That might be glasses, a simple 'all clear, see you next year', or if their prescription is rising, a referral into our Myopia Management programme.
Why parents choose Paris Optical
From age 3 onwards
We examine children as young as 3, using techniques suited to their age rather than a scaled-down adult exam.
Early detection matters
Conditions like lazy eye (amblyopia) are far easier to treat when caught young. We screen for this at every children's exam.
Gentle, unhurried, honest
No pressure, no rushing a nervous child through. If nothing needs treatment, we will tell you plainly.

Good to know
We examine children from age 3 onwards. If there is no family history of eye problems and nothing seems wrong, an exam before starting school is a sensible first check.
We check your child's vision, screen for early signs of lazy eye (amblyopia), assess reading behaviour, and test colour vision, alongside a general health check of the eyes.
No. A children's eye exam is the general check-up. If it shows your child's prescription is rising, we will talk you through myopia management, which is a separate, ongoing programme to help slow that progression. See our Myopia Management page for detail.
Not routinely. If our optometrist feels it would help get a clearer picture, they will explain why and talk you through it first.
Children rarely complain about their eyesight because they assume everyone sees the same way. Sitting close to the TV, holding books close, squinting, or a class teacher's comment are all reasons to book a check.
