Two generations, one clinical practice.

Paris Optical was founded in 1993 by Sally Koay, and is now run by her son Gino. The reason it exists at all is a very personal one.

In 1993, Sally Koay saw a gap that mattered to her: children who needed glasses were not always being looked after properly. She opened Paris Optical to do something about it.

Her own son, Gino, was one of those children. He started wearing glasses at age 7, broke them often, and watched his prescription change again and again through his childhood. That experience became the seed of everything the business stands for today.

From a frame shop to a clinical practice

When Gino graduated, he joined the business to ease his mother's workload, and kept studying optometry while working. Through that hands-on training, he saw a bigger gap that most optical shops in Malaysia still ignore: proper primary eye care, not just a quick vision check before a frame sale.

So the family began investing heavily in clinical diagnostic equipment, turning what had been a retail eyewear shop into something closer to an eye health practice. That shift, from selling glasses to protecting eyesight, is still the core of how Paris Optical operates today.

Two outlets, one standard

Paris Optical is now in its 33rd year, running two outlets across the Klang Valley: the original Bangsar flagship, and a second outlet at The Starling Mall, Petaling Jaya, opened in March 2022. Both are staffed by the same team of qualified optometrists, held to the same clinical standard.

The mission has not changed since 1993: look after people's eyes and eye health first, not just sell them glasses. Everything else, including the curated eyewear collection, follows from that.
